Guerila

Situated at the eastern end of Vipava, overlooking the wide and steep sided valley we find one of the most modern wineries in Slovenia – Guerila Wines. Their tasting room overlooks the valley, and the wine cellar spreads over several levels. The wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel, terracotta amphora, concrete eggs and wooden barrels. The bottom floor of the cellar hosts not only the barrels, but also an impressive library of Guerila’s previously vintages.

Guerila is the result of Zmagoslav Petrič’s decision to found a biodynamic wine-growing farm where sheep and grapes happily co-exist. The terraced, half-moon shaped vineyards make you feel like a spectator in an amphitheatre surrounded by untouched nature. The wines reflect this surrounding in their elegance. Mostly made from local grape varieties such as Zelen, Pinela, Rebula and Malvazija they are very expressive of the region and the terroir.

Guerila wines are Demeter certified; works in the vineyards and the wine cellar are carried out in accordance with the natural cycles of the biodynamic calendar.
