Wetzer Wetzer Wetzer

Péter Wetzer is rather a newcomer in the natural winemaker scene. The tall bald-headed Hungarian started to make wine in Sopron around 10 years ago. With the words: “Come to Sopron and I will show you where I make my garage wine” he invited me to his place this spring. We meet in his garden. Here he makes wines in an open garage. The wines age in barrels in two small old wine cellars underneath his private house. He mainly works with local Hungarian grapes, such as Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) and Furmint and makes an amazing Pinot Noir.

Péter started wine making from scratch and decided to work organically from the beginning. His vineyards are small parcels spread outside the city of Sopron. Péter works with a total of 5 hectares, producing around 13.000 litres of wine per year.
